At some point in all of our lives we will have the opportunity for change and the big question will be: can you accept it or will you be afraid of it? It’s okay to be afraid of change, most people are, even myself; but without change you’ll never know what you can truly accomplish.
Change can be exciting and it encourages us to press forward with our goals. It’s only scary if you look at it that way. Typically people are scared of change because they believe they will lose something of value or fear they won’t be able to adapt to the new change and be left behind. For this reason most people won’t even try to attempt change. We should not be afraid of change; sure we could lose something good, but we also could gain something even better than what we had!
You might be asking yourself ‘okay I think I might be open for change but how can I do this?’ First we need to ask ourselves how much can we really control? We should only worry about what we ourselves can control. For everything else that we cannot control, just sit back and enjoy the ride. Next, we need to celebrate the positives and try to see the glass half full. We should be happy and excited for even the little things that happen. Then we need to take action. Make a list of what needs to be done and start with baby steps to keep moving forward. Lastly, keep an eye on your mental health. Change brings stress and stress is hard on the body and mind as a whole.
Socrates once said “The secret to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new” so let’s focus on why change is good for us.
- Without change there is no adventure or excitement in life.
- Without change, things will become stagnate and could possibly die.
- It takes more energy to resist change then it does to accept it.
- When we change we adapt and move forward, which is better than backwards.
- Since most people are afraid of change; the ones who embrace it will be successful.
So will you chose to be successful, or chose to be left behind?
